Educational excellence in a progressive Montessori environment

Established in 1995, Montessori Children’s House offers an exceptional academic preschool and kindergarten program for children from 18 months to 6 years.

Our school is committed to the globally recognized philosophy and methods of Maria Montessori, at the same time integrating the best of developments in early childhood education.

Our child-centered and relationship-based approach is highly regarded by our parents. Children are encouraged to become self-directed and independent within a social context. Our children learn respect for their teachers, playmates and their surroundings and how their behavior impacts the world around them.

A ‘home-like’ setting to help transition from home to school

Our school is set in a house on a residential street in central Houston. Our physical environment is friendly and familiar from the classroom to the kitchen. We find children often settle quickly into the new school routine.

A buddy system for new pupils allows young children to warm to the attention an older child can give them. Our older children delight in their responsibility, helping their young charges wash their hands or sit with them at ‘circle’.

In addition to the facilities within the house, our school offers:

  • A large play yard with tricycles, sand and water play and cubby houses

  • Tumble Tykes

A unique and exciting gymnastics program open to all Toddlers thru Kindergarten-aged students

Tumble Tykes is designed to teach gross motor skills and movement acquisition through basic gymnastics. Classes take place in a unique, fun and safe environment -- a custom-designed Tumble Tykes padded school bus.

Forty-five minute classes are conducted once a week in the bus parked at school.

Tumble Tykes hires enthusiastic teachers with backgrounds in early childhood education and or/teaching. Two instructors, trained in CPR and First Aid, teach skills, lead imaginative games, and provide report cards every other month, detailing the progress of the children.

Staff who are passionate about your child developing their full potential

“All the teachers are inspiring and love the children and their work. The impression is loving and at the same time encourages the children to develop individually.”

MCH is proud to be small. With a low teacher-to-student ratio, our staff can supervise, teach and really get to know your child in a warm and caring atmosphere.

We pride ourselves on candid and frequent teacher/parent communication, whether in the form of a chat at drop-off or a more formal conference in your home.

A flexible approach to meet varying child and parents' needs

Our school is open throughout the year, including the summer. Children may enroll either for a half-day or full-day program either three or five days. The three day program is usually reserved for first time students to ease the transition from home to school. The morning program runs from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the full-day program runs until 3:30 PM. All the students eat lunch together around noon, then rest or nap. Longer days can be scheduled, or used as needed, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Montessori Children’s House offers year-round admissions, subject to availability.
